Meograph is a free, easy multimedia storytelling tool. Students can quickly combine videos, audio, pictures, text, maps, timelines, and links to create what the developers call "four-dimensional storytelling." No registration is required and an education version is available. You have to play around with it to get the concept before introducing it to students.
You can check out an overview of the curriculum here and the program is free to download after registering here. LOG IN WITH SCHOOL EMAIL, STANDARD PW 3/13/13
This document provides some great general rules for digital communication including grammar and some specific guidelines for Facebook and Twitter.
Read this article: Nine Themes of Digital Citizenship. This week we will explore the nine elements of Digital Citizenship while we help Mrs. Holland to create a bulletin board called "Don't Get Caught in the Web." Each student will take one of those elements, write a summary of the element and give an example of bad web behavior.
On YOUR wiki page, write a definitionof Digital Citizenship. Be sure your COOL TEXT name (first name only) is at the top of your wiki page. Your definition will go right under that.
Then list the nine elements of digital citizenshipbelow the definition.
Meet with your classmates, write your summaries of one of the elements. Put your summary on a Word document.
Meet with Mrs. Holland and Mrs. Shinn to create your part of the bulletin board.
This is a great site for finding quality images to use in your projects. The images can be used for both personal and commercial projects and you don't even need to sign in to download them. The images have been uploaded by users for the public good. Upload your images to help others. http://ictmagic.wikispaces.com/Photos+%26+Images
Go to Creative Commons to find pictures that illustrate the element assigned to you. Create a VoiceThread of that element. Your VoiceThread must have 5 slides with URLs on the pictures, or a separate page giving credit (attribution) to sources.
Practice using VoiceThread with a variety of images (I show you how to save powerpoint slides as images in video above or use images from Flickr, etc. )
Be sure to include any attribution information as required (e.g. URL on image)
Step 2: Write a Script for your Activity Using VoiceThread Now that you have practiced, create your element of digital citizenship. Use at least 5 slide Voicethread.A few tips:
You must set (checkmark) your VoiceThread in Publishing Options (button at the bottom in editing mode) to "Public :Yes & Comments :Yes" for your classmates to view it and possibly leave comments for you. (Again, please see my tutorial video)
Copy your Voicethread URL to your clipboard to put in wiki
